What's at Stake With a Felony in AZ

A felony conviction in Arizona is not just a prison sentence, it follows you for life.

Under Arizona law, a felony record can result in:

Loss of the right to vote (restored only after completion of sentence for first felony)

Loss of the right to own or possess a firearm — permanently for most felony convictions

Ineligibility for many professional licenses (healthcare, law, real estate, education)

Serious obstacles to employment, housing, and child custody

Immigration consequences, including deportation for non-U.S. citizens

Sex offender registration for certain felony convictions

Phoenix Felony Defense Services

Class 1 & 2 Felonies — The Most Serious Charges

Class 1 felonies (first-degree murder) and Class 2 felonies (armed robbery, aggravated assault with serious injury, drug trafficking, sexual assault) carry some of the harshest sentences in Arizona law — including life imprisonment and, in rare cases, the death penalty. These charges demand an attorney with real courtroom experience. Mark Weingart has tried over 1,000 jury trials.

Class 3 & 4 Felonies — Still Carries Prison Time

Class 3 and 4 felonies — including aggravated assault, burglary, and many drug possession offenses — carry presumptive sentences of 3.5 to 7.5 years in Arizona state prison. Repeat offenders face dramatically longer sentences under Arizona's sentence enhancement statutes. We scrutinize every element of the state's evidence to challenge the charge or the classification.

Class 5 & 6 Felonies — Don't Assume It's Minor

Arizona's lowest-level felonies — Class 5 and 6 — still carry up to 2.5 years of prison time and a permanent felony record. Many Class 6 felonies can be reduced to a misdemeanor upon successful completion of probation (A.R.S. § 13-604). Our team pursues every available path to keep a felony off your record.

Felony Probation Violations

A violation of felony probation in Arizona can result in immediate incarceration and reinstatement of the original prison sentence. If you've been accused of violating probation, you need an attorney before your next court date — these hearings move fast and the consequences are severe.
